BLACK BLACKS/WHITE WHITES - NICE!
FAST FADE to BLACK
EASY-BASIC REMOTE CONTROL
OPTICAL AUDIO OUT

LOTS OF PICTURE CONTROLS YOU CAN TWEAK

Weakness:

POWER HOG - can suck up to 387 watts
GETS VERY WARM - you can feel the heat radiating off it after a movie
NO PICTURE IN PICTURE - no biggie

I was really weary of purchasing a Highdef TV right now simply because I'm too cheap to shell out more dough for an HD signal (I like DVR's but that's a whole nother story.) Either way, when this model came out in 2007 I couldn't resist the price. My cable providor gives me the local stations in high def for free and I have a progressive scan DVD player so my review will be based upon those experiences.

I'm WOWED by how vivid and bright the colors are. The tv came shipped with the "vivid" mode turned on. I haven't turned it off because I've gotton use to the overall brightness & EXTREME contrast and color. (I knew this plasma had a high contrast ratio but holy cow it gets bright in my livingroom!!!) Also, the bright parts of the picture don't leak out into the black areas like my CRT did. It's a very very crisp image no matter how bright or dark the image is.

Even watching Wheel of Fortune in High Def is a renewed experience for me. It's total EYE CANDY!

DVD's:
I have a cheap sony DVD player plugged into it, but it's got progressive scan which I've never used before until now. Take that and add the MPEG filter built on the TV and you get a really really nice picture(The MPEG filter seems to remove the speckling/pixelation you see with DVD's, especially in the in the black/dark colors). I see details in the movies I NEVER saw before. You even get the facial blemishes and imperfections which can be distracting if you pay too close attention to the details. Or if the "special effects" aren't done very well, it's even MORE obvious.

I'm very happy with this tv!!!! Sometimes I wish I would have gotton the 50" version. it will display a picture in 1080p. oh well who cares. I'm muddle along. heh heh

I've never used the SD slot. I got SD cards and a camera though. Maybe I should.
Haven't used the HDMI yet. Gotta build a new HTPC now for sure.
