Magnavox MWR20v06 DVD recover/VCR combo. HORRIBLE manual. Timer recording doesn't work. Won't copy tapes to DVDs. Even some of my homemade tapes of my kids say "copy protected". NEVER buy this product.

Strength:

it plays

Weakness:

it is supposed to be a recorder and it wont record.

no one will support it or seems to have a clue what they are talking about rather than what is on their computer screen

I too had similar problems dubbing. I dont have any tv reception or get any stations. The sole purpose was to dub my vhs collection onto dvd. They are all tapes taped by me off the tv. However after disk #20 it stopped dubbing and just kept coming up with E25 errors saying "this tape is copy protected" which is bs, because it is my tape off the tv, not a purchased tape.

I called magnavox, they told me to call Funai. So I call Funai. Emma tells me it was a programming protection made so people dont mass record and sell stuff. They gave me a number for Macrovision (long distance, not toll free) saying that they did the programing and could tell me how to turn this off.

So I called Macrovision, after getting through the automated part and sitting on hold for 25 minutes (long distance) I am told by the guy that he doesnt know what I am talking about and they dont handle DVDs (which is BS because I have them on one of the tapes I just bought), but he gives me an email address that I can try.

So I call Emma back at Funai and tell her what the guy told me at Macrovision about not knowing anything about it. She puts me on hold and supposedly "checks with a supervisor". They dont have anything other than that phone number, but they will check into it and call me back ....

yeah right. Its been 3 weeks, havent heard from Emma at Funai, after 4 emails to the address the Macrovision guy gave me still no answer.

It still wont record. I could have bought a $50 dvd vhs player combo and gotten the same results for much cheaper since I can only play on it !
