Symphonic's 5000/5800 5-disc CD changer comes with a price that would be good for a single-disc CD player. It's intended for someone who wants to load up five discs and let them play and, more importantly, not spend a lot of money in the process. As such, it's not packed with fancy features like a digital output or CD Text capability, and you can't change discs while one is playing. The most attractive feature of this player is that it can hold five discs at once. It accomplishes this with a carousel design. Some feel that this design is superior to the now rare cartridge design, which was often noisier and more difficult to load and unload. Aside from the carousel, the 5000/5800 offers up standard budget CD player fare, like a 1-bit digital-to-analog converter and a stereo pair of analog line outputs to send the audio to a receiver.
