Summary:
The Ordinal dac is pretty ordinary looking - just a half-width case with curved blackwood sidecheeks. Costs $2000, uses a pair of dual differential dac7 chips (bitstream) with a range of interchangeable digital filters (18,20, or 22 bit) I chose 22. Strengths? Very low colouration, very clean, detailed and dynamic, conveys rhythms well in an understated way. Weaknesses? Can sound a little bland, failing to convey all the excitement, emotion and drive that the best give. Treble and mids exceptional, bass a bit slow and plummy.
