from LessLoss Audio Devic Summary: After many contacts with mr.Liudas of LessLoss Audio Devices and visiting many times their site I decided to order the LessLoss DAC2004.
What is so special about this DAC?.
First off all the built quality which is more then you would expect from a 1900 euro equipment piece. From the outside there are quality cinch connectors, neutrik xlr's, stanless steel feet!! yes not the plastic ones you see often.
A beautiful brushed alu front, laser engraved.
Secondly LessLoss Audio Devices make their choices through science not technical hype .After listening to different converter chips they decided to use a Burr Brown PCM 1704.One or maybe the most imported thing where they are different from most of the competition is using the DAC2004 as master and the cd transport as slave unit.
This is also the way I used this DAC,through an extra clockcable which is connected to the cd transport.
Another feature which also contribute to the sound quality of this DAC is in the use of a battery power supply for the analog stage.
So how does it sounds, I could say in one word great. The first thing what I'm notice are the frequency extremes.Bass extention is very good, but more important with good articulation.so we are talking not only about more but also much better bass.
The same counts for the treble again more extension very clean and with plenty of detail.Stage width and depth are very good, with a very good separation of the instruments.Tonality, transparency, dynamics all this parameters, what you could expect from a high quality product, are their.
This DAC2004 just put my old Proceed PDP3 in the shadow, leaving it far behind.
Not that the Proceed is a bad processor the LessLoss DAC is only so exceptional in all this qualities. Strengths: Built quality
Sound quality
Product support
price/quality ratio Weaknesses: None I can think off Similar Products Used: Proceed PDP3
