Review 1 of 1

Price Paid:  $268.00 from 6th Ave Electronics

Summary:
This cd recorder has several unique features besides the 3 disc changer, such as mp3 playback, a timer, pitch control, and the ability to record from a microphone (not included) to add voice to your mix. As I have only had this product for less than a month, I have not used all of these features yet. Although this unit can play mp3 discs, it cannot dub them. In dubbing cds, I have found the copies to be indistinguishable from the master discs. The sound is very good and not harsh. Automatic digital record level control allows a constant level when recording songs from different cds. For analog recordings, this unit does a superb job recording vinyl and cassettes. Manual analog record level control can be utilized to add depth to analog recordings. The cd tray operation is quieter than my former cd recorder, a Pioneer PDR-W739. Additionally, the display is large and bright enough to view from across a mid-size room. Overall, this unit is easy to operate with many features and the recording quality is excellent.

Strengths:
Automatic digital record level control Manual analog record level control mp3 playback Large, bright display Multiple programming and recording options between all trays Tray operation is fairly quiet Large, full function remote 4X cd dubbing time.

Weaknesses:
Timer clock does not stay current, must reset it periodically The Service Manual could be arranged better and provide more details of the unit's various functions Even with these weaknesses, I give this unit 5 stars for features, ease of use, and solid build.

Pioneer PDR-W739 ( which I have used for three years with no problems. Then, it just died on me a month ago)

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
