After using several CD players in the last decade, including more expensive ones, I have decided to buy a YBA DESIGN YC201 in Germany.
I was first attracted by the look, so chic, of the player and so minimalistic.
Then I had the chance to borrow one for a week and allowing me to compare it with a Rega Appollo (same price range).
For me the Appollo was the "best buy" products in the price range but what a shock after listening to the YBA. Everything was more : more details, more air, more bass, more dynamic.
At the end of the week, I came back to the shop... with the Rega with me to discuss a trade-in ! Strengths:
- Crazy design
- Sound performances : detailed but not aggressive, firm but not boomy basses, live presence ++. In one term : perfect balance and smooth !
- Built quality
- Value for money (can compete against 2 or 3x more expensive players)
Weaknesses:
- tray shaking
- rotating noise if close to the player (3 feet) Similar Products Used:
