Strengths:    Smooth, detailed, natural, musical sound. Attractive design and user-friendly controls. Very solid construction. Excellent value for money.

Weaknesses:    May be hard to find; Primare equipment doesn't seem to be very widely distributed. No other drawbacks that I can find.

Bottom Line:
The CD31 is a basic CD player with a simple, understated design and very few bells and whistles. What it does deliver is superb performance. It extracts every bit of detail from a CD without giving it the bright, etched, overly-clear character that some other CD players impose. It gives a very smooth, natural, tonally accurate sound that in some respects comes close to that of fine vinyl. It's also attractively designed with clearly laid out, user-friendly controls, and very solidly constructed. The controls feel substantial and the CD drawer opens and closes smoothly and sounds solid. While it's not cheap, it sounds and feels more expensive than it is. It's an excellent value for the money and a great piece of equipment without reference to price. I recommend it highly.
