Price Paid:
$0.00 Summary: This ES model was near entry level during its late 80s/early 90s run. Unlike so many CD players from that era this unit is blessedly free of grating midrange. Overrall tonal balance is really very nice, but unit lacks presence, with diminished soundstage, and hardly any image. Very little sense of original room, air around instruments, and bass definition. Still, if you can find one cheap ($40 in my case), the build quality is very nice, and with a less than revealing sytem, the 222ES should perform well for you.
Strengths:
Neutral tonal balance
Build quality
Weakness:
Lack of soundstage, inner detailing, bass definition
