Access time is a little slow.

Had this unit less than 2 months and the remote system failed. Neither the supplied remote nor a universal remote work, both of which worked at one time. Time to take it to the shop.

Overall, a good buy. It is certainly worth purchasing this unit because of the two-way remote. Sound is ok but truly purchased this unit for storage of discs. For more critical listening, I utilize my dvd player

Excellent ergonomics

Marginal sound out of the analog outputs vs. the digital inputs.

Basically a well designed unit. However, the sound from the digital outputs seems better than from the analog inputs. Have others found this? Also, with 2 units in tandum, there is no way to have all of the features of the 2 units interacting while using the digital output. It would be nice if there was a digital output from unit 2 to unit 1, and 1 would be connected to the preamp. As it is, you need to use the analog outputs to do this. Also, is there any way anyone knows of, to use the 2-way IR features on an IR repeater system such as from NILES??

Good Remote!

A little slow changing discs, No track memos!!

I Really enjoy this Sony CD mega player. I think it's one of the best in the market, and I like the Slave CD changer feather for those of you with more than 300 CDs. The remote is excellent it can store your titles and download them to the CD player and vise versa, bi-directional IR remote. This unit can group your CDs, make a list of all your favorite hits, you can high-light and even omit specific tracks from ever playing. There are two improvements I would recommend; the storage of each and every track name along with the Album titles. The Player has a great search feather and I am one that would love to keep a full database in the player even if I have to key them in myself, it makes it easy to find any song any artist any title. The other would be the time between disks when in shuffle mode or programmed mode (23sec.too long) before the next song starts but other than that I love the Sony CDP-CX350 most of all it has a reasonable price.

No track memos, no remaining time readout from display

I use it as a CD transport and connect it to my DA converter built inside MD-JB930, not bad a combination.
The drawback is it doesn't have enough digital outputs, and no variable RCA out.
One great thing I want to mention is the remote controller, it's a very nice design, with its display showing info fedback from the player, you can actually do everything on the remote without accessing the player.
To use it as a CD transport will be my suggestion of its proper use, otherwise go for single CD player for better sound.

Well integrated with my STR-DA777ES Receiver

No digital bus for interconnecting two jukeboxes

I recently purchased two CDP-CX300 changers. I like the capacity and am very happy with how well the system has integrated with my new Sony STR-DA777ES receiver. The receiver remote displays a text list of both of my changers! This is a very nice way to peruse my CD collection.

Two major drawbacks with this system...

1.-No track memory!
I can store CD titles, but not tracks. I'm considering returning these units and awaiting the next generation for this reason alone.

2.-No digital bus for interconnecting CD players. If I want to interconnect the two units, I have to use RCA cables...(ie. I can't connect my optical cable from player 1 to player two). The result is that I have to connect my second CD player into my MD optical jack... thus, I don't benefit from the cd-linking capabilities.

Control A1 II not working properly, CD title memory.

First, the entire idea of a CD changer with the CD Titles on the remote has changed the way I view my CD collection. This changer, when I bought it, was the best option for that. Musically quality is OK, although I am about to go from analog to digital output, so I am expecting an improvement.

Second, My only real complaint is that if you enter a CD title (CD Text not pervasive...don't get me started on that) and you REMOVE the CD to listen to it in the car, then place back in the changer in a different slot, the changer doesn't remember the title. In fact, if you stick a different CD into the first one's slot, it still uses the old title. My cheap Windows CD player remembers CD Titles I entered 4 years ago... why can't my CD Changer???

That had to be the one feature that I really couldn't believe was not in the player. Do others do this as well. I am pretty anal about keeping track of the slot, but my wife and kids aren't. Imagine setting up for a party and in the middle of the drunken orgy having Barney and friends come on. :-)

Cool remote

D/A converters aren't great. Keyboard input doesn't work properly.

What a great idea! I used to leave CDs strewn all over the place- this definitely helped me organize things better.

This thing would be a pain in the butt if it wasn't for CD-TEXT. Barely any CDs come with CD text on them, but my burner can write it.

I was all excited about the PS/2 keyboard input. Surprise! There's something definitely not right about it. Most keyboards won't work with it, and with the ones that do, it's quite iffy. Don't plan on entering much from the keyboard.

Overall, I'm happy with it. I'd definitely buy another one. It doesn't sound spectacular (though quite on-par for a cd player in this price range), but I'm currently dreaming about a H/K receiver within the next few months. The digital outputs should take care of any complaints I have about that.

300 CDs and cool remote

Oddly enough, cool remote.... not working.

After much research, I purchased this unit and stuffed it with my CD's. I typed in the first 40 titles, which was easy enough with a PS/2 keyboard, at which point I wanted to try to load the memory onto the remote, just to see. Problem. It wouldn't load. So I went through the manual and checked to make sure that 2 way remote was on. It was. I figured, Ok, something may have gotten screwed up, I'll reset. As it says in the manual, I cleared the memory. When I turned it on and pointed it at the unit, it was supposed to see a 300 CD Changer..... but it didn't. It cannot see the changer at all. So I took it to the store. I saw a 300 ES unit, turned the remote on and pointed it, and, there it was, communication. I stepped over to the CDP-CX350 on the shelf and tried the same thing..... NO COMMUNICATION! To take it a step further, I even took one of the store remote and tried the same test on the two units. The CDP-CX350 failed whereas the ES unit was recognized right away.

So it made me wonder.....has anyone else had 2 way communication problems with this unit? Can you get your mem downloaded to your remotes? Or is there something I'm missing? I'd rather not have to unload 300 CD's and haul the thing back in if I'm making a mistake! Thanks for any help you can give.

Nice player, I bought it specifically for the optical out for my MD recorder, now it lives in place of my Harman Kardon player. The only drawback is trying to fit the artist and disc title into 13 characters. The remote alone is worth the extra $$ in the fact that it can list the title and track of a playing cd, as well as enter characters to do searches. Average time between cd changes, not in succession: 18secs. (your mileage may vary). now only if the IRIQ could read the titles....*sigh* Harman? you out there? I give it four stars. More characters in the display would add the fifth.
