I purchased the CE595 from a local BB store to give SACD's a try. With the two week return policy I fully expected to take it back as I didn't expect much from this plastic faced Sony changer. After buying an SACD hybrid disc and listening I was shocked at the excellent sound. I also have a high end tube CDP that costs several times more than the Sony but the sound of the Sony playing SACDs is comparable to the tube player's performance with red book Cd's. The Sony's red book performance while good, doesn't quite match that of my tube CDP. I use the Sony in 2 channel mode although it can do multi-channel output as well. Since it is a dedicated SACD player one would expect it to better the universal players and some of the reviewers agree..

I love the convenience of a changer and the price is right. The Sony is a little noisy as it changes CD's but quiet during play. SACD's are sonically superior to red book CD's and if you like jazz or classical music the selection is good and getting better. I usually purchase hybrid discs which have both SACD and red book layers and can be played on either machines.
