from Auction on the Internet Summary: When i write this I have just bought this player on an auction on the Internet, and I think the price I payed is the highest everyone else should pay for this kind of CD-player. It's a player who sounds just the way you would expect from another player with a price around 300$.
If I compare the Pioneer to my older CD-player, a Sony CDP-213, which you can buy for about 150$, the Pioneer gives a bit sharper, vivid and overall more realistic sound.
The handcontroll is a chapter of its own. It really looks like a "Made in Taiwan" thing. That means, it has an ugly design, but it does what it is intended to do, and nothing more.
The player has a stereo-output and an optical output.
The nice thing about the player is its build quality. It weighs about 7 kg, which makes it "resistable" to shaking. The heavier the player, the better the music sounds.
On the front of the player, there are some more or less important buttons. The player also has some kind of filters that are supposed to make the music sound better. The filters extracts and adds higher frequencies to the music, but then you need the kind of speakers that can play music from 20 to 40 KHz. I haven't had the opportunity to make full use of this function yet.
Overall, I think the Pioneer PD-S707 is a good buy if you can get it for not more than 200$. I base my value rating on the price i bought the player. Strengths: Build quality Weaknesses: Poor handcontroll and too many buttons on the player itself.
