As a moblie DJ I was very excited when I purchased the HDCD 1 from Pro Sound and Stage Lighting. I was able to load the software and drag songs to the harddrive with no problems at all. Putting songs in specific catagories
was also very easy. After downloading 1800 songs I decided to take it along at my next wedding. I plugged in the keyboard and began to search for songs using only a few letters.Every song with those letters in it came up. i was able to find the song I wanted and it was loaded in seconds. Within the first 30 minutes I felt very comfortable using the HDCD1. It was amazing. After using it for approx. 4 weddings I encountered my first problem. After searcing for and loading a song to be played I hit the play button and the song would not play. The screen went into "freeze mode" and I was forced to turn off the player and turn it back on. It happened again at the next 3 weddings I did which is unacceptable if you are a bride. I sent the unit back to Numark. They sent me a brand new one and I had the same problem again. I just mailed back the HDCD! again Strengths:
Searching for songs is very easy and faster then seraching for CD's
If the system works properly you can leave your CD's home
I think that if the problem that I am having is corrected the system is a great idea for DJ's who do not feel comfortable using a labtop system. Weaknesses:
When you have hard drive problems like screens freezing up there are no solutions written in the user guide.
