Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Second Hand

Summary:
I am thoroughly enjoying the performance of this player. It is totally free of grain and produces a very sweet sound. You could spend hours listening to CDs while focusing on the music.

I tried the 207 with an external DAC and its capability as a stand alone transport is above average.

I also tried the pre-amp. section and I am also impressed with its neutrality.

The 207 remains a very good buy in the second hand market and rivals/betters many modern players in the budget to mid category.

Strengths:
1. Non fatigue CD sound
2. Sweet treble extension
3. Good bass
4. Natural Mids
5. Good timing; and
6. Natural flow to music.

Weaknesses:
1. DAC section a little dated & not for those interested in the minutest details
hidden in the music.

2. NAD CD521i
3. Audio Note DAC 1 & 2
4. DIY TDA1543 DAC; and
5. Friend's Marantz CD 17KI (Mark 3)

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $800.00 from Used

Summary:
I listened it with wilson speakers and patus amplifier. amplifier for this test was not good but player ability in producing music with superior transparency was evident. it's focus and image was the best i heard and so smooth and free grain high was it's difference with all digital players. about tonality it was so neutral in frequency range and if you use it's pre section to an organic power amp like krell with high resulution speaker like dynaudio, sound is on dream side. i love this player for it's long listenning session. no fatigue during long listenning and very easy on ear. about bad recorded music there is no expect for making good music and you just listen to truth. bass had definition and was extended with bloom. mid was excellent with low coloration. high was smooth and integrated. about player weakness i couldnot detect any problem with this player.

Strengths:
Includes Preamp!!

Weaknesses:
None.....I was blown away by this unit! The best buy hands down for any Redbook player!

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
