Bottom Line: Excellent sound. It has that detailed, realistic sound Harmon-Kardon is noted for. Better than anything else I have heard. Open and highly captivating. MUCH better sound than Sony, Pioneer, JVC, etc....ANY of the mainstream discount store brands.

Bottom Line: A great buy. As a student, I read up quite a bit before making the purchase. One review that really sold me stated that this 5-disc changer output sound quality that rivaled top-end single players. Even 7 years later I still love the sound and find that reviewer to be correct. This player matched with a mid-level JVC amp and Infinity SM-8s brings incredible clarity to even Nirvana's Nevermind and is spectacular with Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique. I recommend the FL 8400 to anyone looking for audiophile sound with some common consumer bells and whistles.

Bottom Line: A great CD player. Very good sound reproduction. For what i paid its an unreal bargin. For $75USD you would get some 2 pound made in tiawan piece of junk. I got an H&K!

Bottom Line: Have had this CD Changer for 7 years now and am extremely happy with it. Have had no problems with it at all. Just purchased a new receiver (Harman Kardon AVR 220) so I was finally able to hook up the optical out. I agree with the other posts about the remote surprisingly sucks. That’s the only problem I see with this CD Changer, The sound quality is much better then other CD players I’ve hooked up.
