Although there plenty reviews on net, first impresion it's diferent than My marantz cd5003 which i reviewed here,So i can Say it has an sound stage where voices are warm amd stereo efects are feeling highlighted ,But aniway i do think some shorts sound are missing or not hasised like it should be (comparatives whith marants) probably the dac ,So the sound it goes straight to harth ,and da bass is not a problem since i use an yamaha sub to My hk AVR 151 receiver (and has a bomy bas) and i can Say it hear perfect .Satisfied whith this entry level cd player FOR i've pay 60 bucks .

Strength:

Lively Mid/High range, MP3 playback, good remote control.

Weakness:

Disappointing bass

I have been using DCD-700AE during 2 months. The general impression of design is positive, because of metal frontal panel (premium silver colour), finish and convenient remote control. My unit was a brand new one, but out of box i have found a strange big spot on CD tray face, small buttons at the right (time, display, pitch control) were not centered properly, so look left some disappointment. The remote control was perfect. The strongest point of DCD700AE is its ability to reproduce MP3 material with CD quality, it is just amazing how Denon could do it. Generally sound can be described as spacious, soft, detailed and natural. Mid/High range sounds very open and lively, maybe it is because of AL24 processing, the result is enjoyable. What about the bass, here you get somehow less than was expecting, with such Mid/Highs DCD700AE needs very confident bass, but what you get instead is detailed, even deep, but not firm and sturdy presentation, and therefore the sound balance is spoiled, so here is another big disappointment. My Denon CD player DCD860 (1991 or so) providing much more better sound quality without any AL24, sounds near to perfect with quite different amplifiers, tonally even, dynamically strong and details above 1000$. It is strange, what were doing at Denon so many years? If i will speak about DCD1500AE there are a lot of problems too, it is enough to look at the oversized box, to understand that D&M now is doing something wrong. Their amplifiers are another nonsense, it seems like D&M does not know what means a real BASS. So i can give them one advise to study from NAD, Harman/Kardon and English High End, otherwise one day they will have to produce a furniture( it is necessary thing too, but must not sound). What about me i will always like my old CD player Denon DCD860 and other good HI-FI units.
