Review 1 of 1 Summary: A rather unknown French CD-player, costing around $1000. Sitting in a neat, sober black housing with a minimum of controls, all flush-mounted with the actual aluminium front. Inside we find a standard Japanese CD-player of which many components have been removed. Power supplies are extensive, and seperated for transport, analogue and digital after the transformer. A custom PCB holds a BB DF1700P digital filter and two PCM61P 18-bit DACs. Analog filtering is with a GIC-circuit, built using 4 TL-071s per channel.
The Meije sounds very spacey and open, while treble is sweet and detailed. It lacks the bold surefootedness and dynamics of the Rega Planet, being less positive and indeed a bit inconsistent over the whole spectrum. A very good player, but the Rega is still quite a bit better!
