I bought this unit on eBay, cost me $99. it was the $99 well spent!
i owned one CD8b few years back, and made a bad decision left it to my ex.
my other cd player is the NAD 541, which is a decent player for a guy like me.
But CD8b deliver the sound rivals 541. It is sweet, natural, deep, detail but not harsh and no mechanical problem what so ever up to date. I listen primarily female vocalist, jazz and instruments. i use fisher x-100c tube amp and jensen speakers (alnico). the CD8b match up the system well. it is a bargin. In fact, i am looking for another CD8b to set up my 3rd system right now. Strengths:
warm, natural, detail and deep sound.
soundly built mechanically. Weaknesses:
the sound of the draw open/shut is a little too loud.
