These guys haven't been made since the late 80's (1988 on mine). However, if you can find one around they make great transports for not very much. It has a coaxial digital output and a uniqe vibration isolation system for the CD transport section that's better than anything you're probably going to find out there for under $300, new or used. The display is easy to read and it has index search. Using it as a CD player I can't really comment on the sound since I have it on a makeshift system 'til my Van Alstine gets here. However, as old as the unit is its not going to have one of those Delta-sigma/one-bit conversion systems found in most of todays stuff, whose performance is questionable compared to the older design. For the money its going for these days I give it five speakers.
