Used with my Sony MDR-CD550 (closed back) headphones, this little player astounds me with it's neutral presentation. The sound is clear, bass is tight and it's excellent in the midband. Even with the standard phones, this player made the plane journey from LA back to England a whole lot more bearable. One other thing, it's made in Japan! Although my days of jogging are long gone, this player won't skip at all, and would suit someone looking for a good machine whilst on the move a lot. It's very compact, slim and weighs next to nothing. Overall the finish is very good. I did consider a similar priced Sony model which included a radio, but my previous experience of Panasonic products (AKA Technics I think) steered me toward this model.

Supplied headphones are not capable of deep bass without distortion.
