EXCELLENT PORTABLE CD PLAYER. I bought this (refurbished) from the panasonic factory for $35, so I wasn''t expecting fantastic quality. I read some reviews and decided it was worth a go. The Anti-Shock is fantastic (never skips), it plays ALL my CD-Rs (and I have a lot, all varying quality), has great sound quality (the bass level is far better than that of the Sony''s) and the headphones are actually quite good (i don''t understand why people don''t like them), plus i''ve dropped it about five times and it still all goes fine. Overall, this player is fantastic value for money, and I''m VERY IMPRESSED. Far better than my previous Sony discmans.

Low volume, poor bass quality.

I bought this cd player for around the Christmas season last year when my other Panasonic went hay-wire. I have always trusted Panasonic and their products, every electronic component in my house is Panasonic. What apealed to me was the price and the size of the unit. I have used this for about 6 months now and I do have to say that I'm a little dissapointed. The sound quality is ok at best, and the player is isn't very durable. The silver lining of the cover scratches easily, and after dropping the unit a few times the spring to open it has popped out, and so has the HOLD button. All in all, this is a GOOD cd player for it's price tag, but beware of non-existing durability.

Before actually purchasing this product, i had a very good look around. The CD player had to meet some requirements of mine :- take joggin shock, crisp sound, and a great battery life.

I was going to get the Kenwood Dpc-X707, till i seen this beast. both are more or less identical, apart from the shock system being better, and the Battery life being TREMENDOUSLY better from what i could ever anticipate. ive had it only for a week or so but ive used it around 5 hrs a day on the same batterys (incidently Panasonic Ultras) and its lasts quite a bit of time!

Whilst the autoshock system is disabled, the kenwoods pull straight ahead, however, when enabled, they go neck on neck, and id personally say that the panasonic has the advantage, since it works upside down unlike its Kenwood rival, which is still a super product netherless. if only it didnt digest batteries.

If u leave ure CD player hidden away, ull love the remote control. i dont know how i could live without it!

u really do get your monies' worth so if u love ure music but cant b asked to convert ure CD collection to MINIDisc [like me] then u cant go wrong with this one

I hate this cd player and i think its a waste of money. It broke already and I have only had it for 4 1/2 months

I change my last statement. The Aiwa has some serious design flaws. I have finally ended my search with the Philips AZ9113. The sound quality is phenomenal, it has no problems if you flip the player over, and it can play CD-R/CD-RW just fine. Only issue is the annoying beep every time a button is pressed but it's relatively minor compared to its strengths.

Posting three star rating so I don't affect the rating too much.

Apparent battery drain results in less than three hours of play time. (Panasonic advertises 23 hours)
AC/DC port stopped working after first month of use.

DO NOT BUY THIS PLAYER UNLESS YOU GET A STORE WARRANTY. IN FACT, DO NOT BUY THIS PLAYER.

Lite, small size, features, stlylish, hours of play

Size and hours of play are my main factors when buying a cd player, and also duribility. This cd player has all. I'm not sure about duribility though I have had this cd player for a year and I lug it around in my backpack to listen to it in school, and I have been recently having problems with it to get it to play. Overall though it's worth the money. The player should be durablel, since you can jog with it. Oh by the way I fixed the problem by cleaning the cd lens with a cotton swab. However I'm guessing the problem's going to come back soon. I'm not sure what cd player will be my next one? SONY? OR PANASONIC?

It's a good cd player if you're looking for affordability and durability, because this thing can take a beating for sure, i have dropped it many times, and it is still in great condition after 2+ years of having it.

Long Battery Life, doesn't skip, small

The player I had before this was a Sony. It took a beating and finally got to were it had to sit still to play, so I replaced it with the Panasonic. I don't know why your player won't play CD-R's but mine plays them just fine. Anti-shock is way better than the 10 seconds on the Sony, and it does not skip with the Anti-shock on unless it is constantly being moved around, like running. It is also small enough to fit in your pocket too. The bad part is that the signal it puts out to the headphones is not very powerful. My old Sony put out a lot more juice. I tried the headphones once and haven't used them since. The headphones that come with the Sony players are better. Even at low volume levels, the S-XBS distorts the bass slightly, but you probably wouldn't notice with the headphones that come with it. This is a good solid player that I hope will last for years to come. A good buy for the price.
