Strength:

Great sound, metal outer case, quiet operation.

Weakness:

None that I consider significant.

I am very pleased with this unit. The sound is quite good through my Sony headphones, as well as through my portable listening system. It consists of a bass computer speaker from Cambridge Audio, and a pair of homemade speakers with JBL coax drivers mounted in heavy plastic electrical junction boxes. All the connections are made with Canare Star Quad cable.

Anyway, back to the sound, open and detailed, quite listenable for a long time. While not up to my home system, it is still revealing and musical. I really like the metal shell, and the locking mechanism. I also like how far the lid opens up, it makes changing discs very easy.

I have not spent any time with the headphones that were shipped with the player, other than to verify that they work.

Similar Products Used:

Aiwa, Philips, and Kenwood. The Kenwood has some problems with reading CD-R discs, the Philips kept blowing fuses in my van when I was using it there, and the Aiwa has a very noisy servo motor on the laser.
