Price Paid:  $110.00 from Signal Cable

Summary:
These are excellent cables for the price, and I am pleased with the resulting sound in my system. I would definitely recommend them to other prospective purchasers. You owe it to yourself to hear a pair of these before you decide whether to spend any more on higher-priced cables. I am using them with a pair of Vandeersteen 1b speakers, in a system also currently including an NAD C340 integrated amplifier, Cambridge Audio D500 CD player, MAS Gray interconnect cables, and various other components. The sound from this system belies the prices paid for the components, many of which were bought used or as demos. The sound is clear, detailed and full, with good imaging and soundstage. Like many good-quality audio cables, these are relatively thick and stiff, so you will need sufficient room between the speakers and the wall to accommodate their radius of curvature. Good cables definitely help the sound of a system, but in my view, their cost should be in proportion to the rest of the system. As a general rule of thumb, they should not cost more than about 25 to 30 percent of the cost of the components they are being used to connect. Anything more than that would be better spent on higher quality components rather than higher quality cables. The price paid for this particular pair, higher than the base price listed on the firm's web site, reflects my decision to buy a set 8 feet long, terminated with the optional Analysis Plus BFA banana plugs at the speaker ends and spade lugs at the amp ends, rather than the base-price set 6 feet long with standard termination. I purchased them via Internet from www.signalcable.com, e-mail sales@signalcable.com. The firm accepted payment via PayPal as well as credit cards. Service on the order was prompt and courteous.

Strengths:
-- Clear, detailed, full sound. -- Good imaging and soundstage. -- Reasonably priced. -- Excellent match for moderately priced audio components.

Weaknesses:
-- No real weaknesses at this price level.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
