Strength:

Warm, rich yet smooth and comparable detail as others. Bass is very good

Weakness:

Could be too laid-back and warm with some systems. Trebel could be more detail

After purchasing a new DAC (MSF A3-24), I needed a digital SPDIF cable. I purchsed both the HT Cyber Link and the Nordost Silver Shadow after testing several other cables such as Siltech, Van de Hul. I recommend at least 80 hour of burn-in for both cables. You need the burn-in before the sound opens up. With the Cyber Link Platinum, the construction is first rate. The sound is smooth yet detailed. But what draws me most to the Cyber Link Platinum is the warm, rich sound especially in the mid and bass. With voices (especially male such as Harry Connick) the sound is resonant, warm and realistic. With the piano, I find the timbre, tone and the decay of the of the Cyber Link platinum to be the most realistic especially compared to the Nordost Silver Shadow. With double bass, the leading edge is more detailed and has more texture. However, the Silver Shadow is better in treble which is quicker and cleaner than the Cyber Link Platinum. Overall, the Silver Shadow has a leaner, more forward balance. For those who prefer a quicker and leaner sound, the Silver Shadow may be preferable. In my sytem however, it can be a little too bright and so I prefer the warmer, more laid-back sound of the HT. When you campare the price difference (Silver Shadow costs US$440), then the HT gets my vote as the better cable in MY SYSTEM.

Strength:

Has the ability to turn your home theater into a transparent, holographic and amazing sound system

Weakness:

None

I bought this cable expecting to hear atleast some improvement in sound over my previous digital cables. But what I experienced is hard to describe! I connected it to my Denon AVC-A1D THX/DD/DTS with NHT VT/S-2 speakers and sat down to listen... I was blown away. The sound was sweet, smooth, appealing, powerful, transparent. And I never thougth that my system could sound this detalied! Every thing I´m listening to now comes off with more detail than ever before.

I am so glad I got this cable! I recommend it to everyone!

Strength:

Ability to sound detailed and involving, yet rich and smooth.

Weakness:

None found yet. Like most (all?) cables-will not work best in every situation.

I have two different systems, each using a separate dac and jitter reduction device, so that at any one time I am using 4 digital cables. As a result, I have tried a lot (probably too many) of digital cables.
This is the overall best, particularly when running from my transports to an AA DTI Pro or AA DTI 2.0. It is the only cable I would use if I did not have a jitter reduction device.
The cable seems to soften the higher frequencies, warm up the midrange and has the richest sounding bass of any cable I have tried. This sonic signature may not work in every case ( I have heard it sound a little bland when running from my DTI to my DAC's), but this is highly dependent on
what it is used with and your personal taste. It certainly sounds different than any lower priced cables and I preferred it over some cables which cost more. What distinguishes this cable is that while it may seem to sound softer, it also passes through as much or more detail than any other cable I have tried. It sounds wonderful playing accoustic instruments such as guitar and piano, but has enough slam to sound great with rock muscic. It also breaks in very quickly and gently-no ridiculous claims about some magic transformation after 100 hours or more of use.
I have also tried Luminous Audio, LAT and Canare cables.

Strength:

Transparency, tight focused bottom end, natural (you are there) midrange, detailed highs. Dynamic.

Weakness:

I'm having real trouble detecting any, I'm busy listening to the music..

Well, I don't like to sound like those crazy "believers" out there, but this cable is a real bargain. It's not easy to design a bargain silver cable without getting some defects in. But this is a free and natural cable. It will show your system without mercy (from top to bottom), so watch out for coupling this with lesser gear.

I don't want to bad-mouth the Nordost Moonglo, because it's not a bad cable. But it has some areas that could be improved, like the top end (a bit harsh), and the low end(does not extend like more expensive cables). At the price of the Moonglo you can't blame the midrange.

BTW, comment about TruthLinks; This is a really cool cable, the midrange is at the price breathtaking (massive body) and the bass has good extension. But the highs is rolled off, HT blame it on the copper but you can't tribute it all to the copper. But it has a certain "High-End" feel to it because of it's "quietness" and body. At the price this is a very interesting cable.

HT's CL Platinum Burn in; these were not easily burned in, 60h before any tests. 200h before getting the full potential. But it's worth it! Compare this cable with others costing twice and you would still be getting back to this one because of it's transparency.

Weakness:

locking rca's were confusing at first...

Now that the wire and new receiver are here, I can make an initial review. If you want details of how the wire works with a denon receiver, see my other review.

I truly believe that this digital cable is making my sony dvd a more musical player. Before, I would listen to my sony compared to my cambridge cd only player and I could tell how bad the sony was. It was harsh, tinny at times, it would fatigue me. That was comparing with same analog cables into a nakamichi receiver.

Now that I have a denon and I use the digital connection via the cyberlink copper, the sony is much more musical with high's that are both extended and not fatiguing. I cannot hook up my cambridge digitally because it has a balanced connection and the denon will only take an unbalanced digital signal or analog. But even through decent audioquest ic's the cambridge lacks some definition and high extension. I feel that if the cambride were linked via a digital connection it would sound just as good if not better. Of course the change in sound could be the denon unit with it's better dac's/decoders compared to the old nakamichi.

No matter what the truth may be, I'll have to give a whole hearted recommendation to the cyberlink and also to www.eaudionet.com for both quality service, nice freebies and good recommendations.

I'm a believer in the digital difference!

I haven't gotten the cable yet, but from friends and reviews I don't think I'll be disappointed. The harmonic technology cyberlink is THE digital cable.

I wanted to actually turn everyone onto eaudio.net's excellent service and freebies. They will burn-in your cable using cable cooker and clean the termination with progold. For free!

They even include a bottle of Deoxit with orders above a certain price point.

I don't work for them,(they're in NY I'm in CA). I just have not found a site yet that matches that kind of service for harmonic technology cable. You may email me for questions about my experience. If you don't go used, you might as well get some freebies and not pay tax!

I will post an updated review when the cable arrive.

Strength:

Width and depth of soundstage, detail, detail and more detail. Does not have the typical sound of pure silver.

Weakness:

Can't think of any!!!!!

First I would like to tell you that I purchased the Cyber-link copper on a recomendation from Scott at Advanced Home Theatre in Dallas. My set up as follows: Pionner PD-F59, Monarchy DIP MkII, MSB Link-Dac with Mods(Courtesy of Rick at EVS), Forte'44, Musical Design D-140, and Theil 1.2's.
I couldn't believe my ears when I put the $100 digital copper cable in my system, soundstage deepend, instuments sounded more correct in timbre the air around them increased. The cable from H.T. sounded a bit thin like others had claimed out of the box, but I didn't care. After burn in appox. 100 hours every thing was right as before, just more of it. I felt as if I were lisitening to a new system.
So, I couldn't possibly stop there. I took home a pair of Truth-Link to replace my Transparent Music-link Plus. Wow,
bass that I didn't think the Theils could give me was there. And finnally the pin-point imaging they others boast was in my home. At this juncture, I still had a weak point using the Custom House digital inbetween the DIP and the MSB so, I borrowed the PLATINUM CYBER-LINK fron Scott and musical nirvanna!!! Add infinitum. Since then, I've tried A Cyber-link Silver inbetween the CD and the DIP and found the differences even more alarming. The silver brings out more high-end detail, less fatigue on violin passages and guitar solos from Carlos Santanna. While, I aslo conclude that the bass is better using the copper cyber-link. All the while, leaving the Platinum connected between the DIP and the MSB. I can't wait till the wifey allows me to purchase another Platinum cyber-link to go wit Ric's Millineum DAC. I will surley be in musical bliss.
My wife and myself can't thank Harmonic Tech. enough for bringing my tunes back to life in a way I never thought possible. Excellant products(*****) and then some.

Strength:

Huge soundstage, airy, smooth highs, tight clean bass

Weakness:

None so far

This is the best digital cable I heard so far. For the price of $400 Cdn. the best buy. Very airy, at times I thought I had the surround sound receiver on. Good high end extension and smooth. My has RCA connection so the balance one should be even better.
If you are in the market for digital cable, made sure you check this one out.
