The AQ DRAGON HL are Amazing! Very Very detail in the treble, SCARY mid bass, LOW BASS extension, SUPER fast, clarity , HUGE performance, I mean HUGE, the music is all there. Incredible cables!. I strongly believe that the best cables (interconnects or speaker cables) are those which simply disappear. Audiotruth Dragon does exactly that. Yes, it is very expensive and hard-to-find. But if you got some serious gear, do yourself a favor and buy Dragon.

I dont want to sound like there is such a thing as the best, esp for cables, but in terms of system compatibility, you can do no better,
this cable doesnt highlight any one freq extreme e.g Cardas:
Midbass, Synergistic: low bass or Wireworld : midrange.

It just retrieves.

bass and pitch definition are superb and the overall
presntation makes it suitable for almost all systems,
The MIT seems to like fast and extreme SS amps and flounders when used with tubes, The Cardas is overblown in its exaggerated Midbass and the synergistic is just unatural sounding with some sytems.

sorry for sounding like all the other cables have failed,
but when you find a cable that just disappears, words can fail. A real 6 star product

I recently upgraded my system from a bi-wired pair of 7' Audioquest Forests to a 5' bi-wired pair of Audioquest Dragons. Although I have owned these cables only a few days, and they are still breaking in, the differences in sound quality were so substantial that I decided to post a review. Improvements: the bass is now way more taut and rhythmical; the mids are clearer with less hash and grain; and the treble is smoother. The Dragons also lend a better sense of rhythm to the music - the fact that people are having fun making music comes across better than with the Forests.

First example: the bass at the beginning of the first track on Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. Here, the instrument went from being indistinct, sort of there thing with the Forests, to being a real bass, 12' behind the speakers, with the Dragons. I can now hear the plucking of the bass string clearly; the slide of the fingers as the bassist pulls his hand up the string and then down to change notes; the wooden tonality of the instrument, it's resonance. Everything is clearer.

Second example: U2's Pride (in the Name of Love) from their album The B-Sides. The drum kit at back right is now clearer, the kick from the drums being more focussed, with the cymbals being smoother, airier. As the track unfolds, the progress of the mix is better revealed, with the backing vocals, as they are faded in, clearly separated from the guitars at left and right.

So is there anything to dislike about the Dragons? Well, they are expensive - $2500 retail for a 5' pair - but they offer what only few cables can. Who should buy them? I would recommend any audiophile with more than $2000 speakers to try them. You may just find that your next upgrade is not the traditional amp or CD Player, but better cables. I love them.
