AudioQuest NRG-1 Power Cables

AudioQuest NRG-1 Power Cables

DESCRIPTION

NRG-1 uses solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors in a Star-Quad configuration. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, which is the greatest single source of distortion in an audio cable or an AC power cable. The less complicated grain structure and fewer impurities within LGC copper significantly reduces distortion compared to normal high purity copper. The Star-Quad spiral creates a fixed low-inductance relationship between conductors.

Strength:

Noticeable improvement on my digital amplifier with switched power supply. Few cords have C7 plugs. No IEC-to-C7 adapter needed. Affordable.

Weakness:

Stiff cord, and it really shouldn't be bent too much. Could be higher gauge, say 12 gauge instead of 16. Get a Powerpunch C7 if you want a proper 12g cord.

I bought this for use with my Panasonic XR45 digital amplifier. Many owners of XR45s mention the importance of upgrading the power cord over the crappy 18 gauge stock cord. I bought this 6-foot cord, not really expecting to hear a difference, but what the heck, it's only a hundred bucks (Canadian). I plugged it in, and distinctly heard better sonics. Bass was noticeably weightier, and the highs were clearer and crisper. The bass is likely improved by the heavier gauge (16) over the stock cable (18). The highs are probably crisper due to the RF choke on the cord. Note that this cord is NOT designed for amps, but rather transports, etc.
