Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $100.00

Summary:
I have been using this cable a little while now and have been very impressed by it, particularly in the treble. I have a relatively expensive system but have been disappointed by the lack of depth and soundstage, and have therefore tried a number of different interconnects and speaker cables. The Timbre is the first one that has made me sit back and say wow! Listening to acoustic guitar, you could feel every string being plucked, and hear the guitarist hand brush against the fretboard! Bass and midrange came out further, but not oppressively so. It is a medium priced cable, but for me has been a definite improvement. I will be sticking with this little beauty for a while!

Strengths:
Clarity and definition of treble

Weaknesses:
Bass improvement doesn't match that of treble, still, better than having neither!

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Kennedy HIFI

Summary:
The guys at Kennedy HIFI let me take the Kimber Hero and Kimber Timbre home so that I could audition them and make an educated decision. I compared them both to my IXOS 103 interconnect which I have had for a few years now and is well burned in which I cannot say for the two kimbers. The Timbre was not better in my opinion but different. The Ixos was a bit brighter, more aggressive and more detailed than the Timbre. The Timbre on the other hand was less aggressive, less detailed and more laid back sounding. The Timbre was a little boring to listen to compared to the Ixos but was neutral. In this case I would stick with my Ixos as the timbre is not an upgrade to my ears. (They are priced similarly.). The Hero is another matter entirely. This cable is amazing I was drawn into the music and heard detail that I had never heard before on my system. My recomendation is that you spend a little extra and get the Hero. Trust me you will not regret it. It's that much better.

Strengths:
Neutral sounding, warm, does not add anything, nice build, good price, good step up from Radio shack wires.

Weaknesses:
Sounds dull and lifeless to me. Detail is not that great.

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
