I personally love these speakers. A good strong receiver (Yamaha) and the right positioning get these speakers to sound fantastic. From music to movies, I haven't been let down yet and for the price they're great. My music taste range from Jazz to Death Metal and every thing is clear and crisp + you get powerful bass without having to use a powered sub. I have the extra subs and I never turn them on.

Strength:

Inexpensive, good bass reproduction.

Weakness:

Wavy frequency response, the quality just isn't there.

If you're looking for a cheap speaker to go with a beginner system, this one isn't such a bad choice. I paid $165 for the pair and haven't been too disappointed for that price. However, for just a bit more, you could get much better.
The speakers do well in the low end which was good for me because I didn't want to have to buy a subwoofer to go with the system. They do well for movies but are not the most musical pair I have ever listened to.
