The Polk RtiA1 bookshelf speakers have one characteristic that ruined them for me, EXTREMELY exaggerated high frequencies. Cymbals scrape. Trumpets screech. Guitar overdrive grates without mercy. Too bad, because their bass and mid-range and imaging was excellent! So... I put them in the box and sent them back for a refund. They were connected to a Marantz PM8003 integrated amplifier and a Marantz CD5004 CD player. Oh, one more thing... just so you don't think I have hearing problems, my wife heard the same sound I did and said they sound scratchy.
