Strength:

Price, Small Footprint, Built In Anti-Glare Screen, Performance.

Weakness:

Goofy remote

Can't believe how good this set is. My brother has a Mitsu Diamond line 55 HD set and my unit kills it.

We both had our units ISF'd by the same tech.

We both agree, the Samsung set is better.

Better color, better blacks, way more detail.

I was a little iffy about about buying the Sammy, but don't even think about it. It is an awesome set.

Weakness:

Does not support 720p native...

Very disappointed that HDTV ABC in Denver does not scale correctly... 12% black side bars... Samsung did a poor job in their up converstion of 720p to 1080i... Looks like Satellite or Digital Cable... Very Pixalized, grainy. Picture is very dim when upconverted.

Looks very sharp & bright on Panasonic in 720p native mode. No pixalization, no grain... Wish I had bought a Panasonic instead.

Simply the best picture you'd ever want to see. No outboard line-dubbler boxes for this unit. Just got it in and learning my way around. Football broadcasts are all slated for HDTV this fall. Can't wait. Report back on the unit after I've lived with it for awhile.
Current take is that even typical DVD quality picture and color cannot compare to HDTV. If you like to immerse yourself in real dynamic color HDTV is the only way to go. So far the Samsung has outsold the Pioneer and Mitsubishi units 3 to 1 locally. Who'da thought a name like Samsung would be paving as the standard to be measured for HDTV's.

Delighted to have this set and it was well worth the price.

Easy 5 stars and then some!

Enjoy!

Strength:

Great picture

Weakness:

No "Zoom" mode--only widescreen or normal

I had checked out the Toshiba and Pioneer before getting the HDTV Ready Widescreen Samsung. It's an AWESOME picture! I'm not using it for HDTV (until Cable starts running that), but for watching DVDs, it's hard to believe. It has a widescreen mode, which is great for watching "anamorphic" or DVD-s "enhanced for 16:9", but I end up watching TV in "Normal Mode" so faces don't look fat, and nothing gets cut off.

Overall, I'm very happy. Samsung surprised me with their quality on this one!!!! I got mine from consumer-direct.com...under $3500.
