Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I DJ in some major clubs and I've used the denon's, cdjs, & numarks cd players but the Technics are playing in the same ball park. The platter is a little heavy but the rummers of too much of a digital sound is not entirly true, I scratch with the SL-DZ1200 and 3 different applications , torq, vdj & serato and these players sound like my 1200's. They have a strong timecode signal output resulting in a clear sharp sound and fast response time from the software. I recommend the SL-DZ1200 to any heavy handed scratch DJ, plus the look alone catches people's attention. They are reliable for the price like my cdj's no plastic feel though , and the 10" vinyl top very sweet. They did a good job with these. Since i don't spin cds but timecode it's is the perfect player. My Denon 3700's are bad ass best players I've ever had even over my cdj 800's. A must buy, don't believe reviews ever DJ is different. RMX for the mobile djs.....

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $799.00 from Secret...

Summary:
I heard so many bad things about this machine. I even talked badly about it from all the negative things that people said about it. Let me be the first to admit.. this thing is great. Try it for yourself and then judge it. I LOED the feel of this thing. Nothing out there feels better than the SL-DZ-1200. Unless your used to scratching on a 45, the pioneers may feel ok with you. I hate 45 records (to scratch with) that I gave all mine away. Spinning on the SL-DZ1200 feels just like a technics 1200. I love everything about this. Not because I own it, but because it really is cool. The sample pads are a nice add on. Loopoing is easy, .. schyt, there's too much I can say about this cd player. I'm very satisfied, and considering I was planning to buy the pioneer cdj-1000 (or whatever) the technics changed my mind, and I saved $500. It's dope, nuff said!

Strengths:
Not overglorified with features. This thing is a BREEZE to use and it feels GREAT! It does what it does and sounds great. If you can tell the difference from vinyl and digital with this player than your one bad motha! I'm a true vinyl head.. got well over 5000 records, and I was one of the many nay-sayers against the digital age. I love analog, but now, you can't tell the difference.

Weaknesses:
Effects are kinda wack. Need to be able to select an effect while the track is playing and THEN apply it. The way it's set up, the effects are either on or off. And WTF.. No echo effect? Isn't reverb and echo the most basic effects out there? And you can't adjust the wet/dryness of the effects. Again, that's kinda wack, but if you have a mixer with effects, I would use that instead, so it's really not a big deal. The sample banks only record what the cd player plays. It won't sample anything else.

Similar Products Used:
Denon 3000 and the 3500. Tried the pioneer cdj-1000 also. To be REALLY o honest, all these players have good and bad points, but none have everything that you will want. The pioneers don't continuiously spin, and the platter is too small. Full of features, but what do you need the player to do? If you want to play music, and you need a cd player that feels good, try the sl-dz1200. It will make you a believer.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....
