Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $360.00 from Audiogon

Summary:
This is the simplest, most spartan turntable I ever owned, and yet it reproduces the fullest, sweetest sounding music, with great detail and soundstage accuracy. A lot to ask for at this price point, but the RM-4 delivers. I have the table teamed up with a Denon DL-160 moving coil cartridge and a Creek Phono Stage amp. B&K pre-amp and monoblocks and Dali Grands pump the glorious sounds out. I find myself listening to more vinyl than CD's nowadays. Especially mint Telarc and Mercury recordings, where the RM-4 shines bright.

Strengths:
Cutting edge looks Performance/cost ratio Well isolated Great sound

Weaknesses:
The on-off switch under the table The tonearm lifter feels somewhat flimsy

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $500.00

Summary:
Don't be afraid of the Stereophile class D rating. With the Blue Point Special Evo III this is an affordable way to find out about vinyl. This is the first turntable that makes me understand what all the vinyl buzz is all about. Awesome for not much money. Works well with my Counterpoint SA-3.1 pre-amp.

Strengths:
Mid and upper range sweet and rhythmic. Does things cds cannot do. Easy on the ears and the mind, can listen for hours.

Weaknesses:
Few at this price.

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
