Summary: I purchased this turntable because of the name Sony and it was reasonably priced. It would be my start of putting my l.p. music on to cd..via the pc. When i took it from its box its appearance did not impress...very plasticy and light and its arm...very ordinary. I did not expect much from this turntable....but to my surprise it produced excellent sound. Perhaps better than my 4 times more expensive turntable of 4 years or so. The cds i produced were very good, which were played on a Rotel player and my excellent Musical Fidelity pre-amp. and Electra power amlifier with Kef reference speakers. In order that there should be no doubt in my mind...i played the Shure Trackability Test Record on this Sony ...and to my surprise it passed all..esp. the single bass drum..the sound of which is in 5 levels. Most turntable arms will go of the track at level 3...however the Sony stayed on for all 5..with only slight distortion at level 5. This deck will give the very best from your finest l.p. It is the finest silk which looks like cheap cotton. I hope its mechanical parts will hold for a long time as its fully automatic at the moment.
