Bottom Line: Verry good turntable for the price.To me,the new platter upgrade helps avoiding some bad vibrations and is heavyer than the acrylic one.Coupled with the Pro-Ject Leather-It mat,it gives exellent results(stunning look included!)I bourth a Ortofon 2M bronse and a P-J speed-boxII.The TT is connected to the LP3 phono preamp from Moon (a little Sim Audio but big sound and dark back ground) and the sound is clear,open,tridimentional with a lot of energy .
Befor I make the move one this one,I had a use Rega P3-24 with a Ortofon Salsa(MC) that sounded pretty good too but the fit (of the Pro-Ject)and finish looks better and the bilth quality too! Really you'll say?Well...

I know the RB301 tonearme is a verry good one but it looks plastish.(Look for the arm base and the anti-skating.The hobe is better machined on the P-J and the rega motor has been stiked to the plinth!They say it's to keep bad vibrations away!Humm...Wheird that I can see the pully going up and down and vibrate trough the plinth!The feets are and looks better on the P-J than the Rega that is only holding by a little screw.
The Rega P3-24 is a good LP player but when you think about the price you pay for it,I'd rather bye the 1XpressionIII classic with a higher grade cartrige and the speed boxII for a little less mony.
Oh! And it has VTA and asimut ajustment also...Good thinking!
