Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $275.00 from CAM

Summary:
As I write this review I am listening to Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits playing on my recently purchased Goldring 1.2 TT with Elektra Cartridge. It sounds very good for such a reasonably priced piece of stereo equipment. The Goldring's sound is very warm and clear with good stereo seperation between left and right channels. There is a good depth of field and the harmonic range seems to cover the entire audible spectrum. It makes me wonder how great the sound would be if I used a delux cartridge instaed of the basic Electra! It is much like the Rega TT, but the motor torques up immediately and I hear no wow or flutter, nor any rumble too. It was simple to set up and fits in any standard 17" stereo shelf. I use a Yamaha RX-596 Stereo Receiver and the sound exits through a pair of gently worn in Mirage OM-7s. Ther are several basic starter TTs on the market even though viynl is passe, but I don't think one could go wrong using the Goldring TT.

Strengths:
price and ease of set-up.

Weaknesses:
Parts are not top of the line, but what do you expect from a starter piece.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $300.00 from Audio Advisor

Summary:
This turntable is the bargain of the century. I have owned many turntables and this one is a 'steal'. The tonearm alone is worth the price of admission. It sounds lively, punchy, and tuneful. Setup is simple. The included Goldring cartridge puts many other more expensive cartridges to shame.

Strengths:
Easy setup. No audible wow, flutter or rumble. Lively sound. An absolute bargain.

Weaknesses:
Too inexpensive.
