from CAM Summary: As I write this review I am listening to Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits playing on my recently purchased Goldring 1.2 TT with Elektra Cartridge. It sounds very good for such a reasonably priced piece of stereo equipment. The Goldring's sound is very warm and clear with good stereo seperation between left and right channels. There is a good depth of field and the harmonic range seems to cover the entire audible spectrum. It makes me wonder how great the sound would be if I used a delux cartridge instaed of the basic Electra! It is much like the Rega TT, but the motor torques up immediately and I hear no wow or flutter, nor any rumble too. It was simple to set up and fits in any standard 17" stereo shelf. I use a Yamaha RX-596 Stereo Receiver and the sound exits through a pair of gently worn in Mirage OM-7s. Ther are several basic starter TTs on the market even though viynl is passe, but I don't think one could go wrong using the Goldring TT. Strengths: price and ease of set-up. Weaknesses: Parts are not top of the line, but what do you expect from a starter piece. Similar Products Used: Rega2, Rega 3 and Systemdek IIX
