+/- 10% pitch control, less expensive than the Technics, has had the quartz lock feature much longer than the 1200's

Ok, first of all, the turntable is called the PT2000, not the XL2000, to the reviewer who called the Technics the PT1200, thats is an SL1200.
I have had this turntable for a while now and love it. It starts and stops on a dime, The only one that i have used that stops faster is the new green newmark one, with the digital pitch control. I have had no problems with scratching, audio quality, even on slightly warped and old records.

The Xl-2000 is a good turntable..its probably not as good as a PT-1200 from Technics witch is the best but its a good substatute if your not that blessed money wise..so I think its a good Turntable.

This table is a cheap DJ's dream. I use the term 'cheap' lightly because this is one hell of a table despite it's price. The motor is a tank, and it starts up quite nicely, making sKratching a beautiful thing. The only problem I had with it, like every table is that when my clumsy self makes a wrong moves, the tonearm rips across the beautful black surface and drops that little needle on a rough, fast moving , metal platter creating a very unsettling sound. It makes me cry. But otherwise if ya wanna be a DJ, and only got 900 bones chillin' in the bank (and have steady hands) than you hook those things up to your stereo, and you're set.

Technics 1200MKII

This is in my opinion the best table since Technic released the 1200. Its quick start-up proves it is professional quality and the new reverse button adds a nice twist to mixin records .

The only one I have found is the control arm has no rest.If you drop it on accident it falls to the record or surface rather hard and could possiblly crack a needle.

Overall I think it is a wonderful choice for any professional dj or the casual listener who apprieshiates a long lasting sturdy well sounding turntable. The real difference between the Gemini 2000 and the Technic 1200 is about $100 as far as i can speculate.

Besides the name and pitch control, this tables IS a technics 1200. I have used both, and as far as stability, startup time, and quality (weight), they fell exactly the same.

no notch on the pitch slider

Awsome table, you can now get 2 techinics quality tables, for the price of 1 tech 12!!! I spin house/trance, and when the beats are matched, they stay matched. Also the platter is VERY, VERY stable (just like the tech 12's). The only thing 2 things I don't like are:

1. The pitch slider doesn't have a notch at zero (although it does have a button that returns it to zero instantly)

2. It doesn't say "Technics" on it. Many people won't even use them because of the brand name---they are dumb.

Basically, just a cheaper version of the Technics 1200. How did they not get sued? Reliable as hell.

As a pro table - none. Might not be the best choice for home use.

I have had this turntable in my audio system for over 5 years with not one problem! I did not really use it for a while until I changed from a cheap Stanton cartridge to an Ortofon. What a difference! I would compare the sound quality of this table, with a good needle, to some of the better audiophile tables out there!
I bought this when I worked at a A/V retailer for about 200 bucks. Probably the best deal I have ever gotten. It is a Technics 1200: It's a tank!
Probably my only gripe with this table is that its feet don't absorb vibrations very well and I occasionally get low-end rumble if I'm not careful. This is why I don't recommend it for some home enthusiasts... or should I say snobs? - just kidding:) On the other hand, I would like an audiophile to show me a better table for the money.
As with all turntables, give this table the TLC it deserves. But a good $100 Ortofon, set up the arm balance and asmith correctly, and keep your records clean, and you've got the best deal in town.
