Bottom Line: I was lucky enough to acquire on ebay a very slightly used Benz Ruby 3 H.
As you know, the thing sells for 3000 Euros... much to expensive for me...
Bought it for 600 Euro, with only 150 hours on it. As we all know, this "only 150 hours", very often proves to be much more when you receive the cartridge...Not in this case... This Benz was immaculate...
I started hifi only 3 years ago with the honest Denon DL 103.
The Benz is just an other experience... First, it' very easy to fix and balance...
( I use an Origin Live Silver MK2 arm ). The Benz H makes a marvellous couple with this tonearm. Be careful, the cartridge is slightly higher than a DL 103 ( you may need VTA ).
The H of the Benz H is self explanatory : this Benz is a high compliance MC cartridge (0,7mv), the 103 being a low compliance one (0,3mv).
I have tried to steps-up with the Benz : my old Denon AU 250 and a pair of Beyerdynamic transformers. Result was much better with Beyerdynamics. These are inexpensive, easy to find and mount...
Compared to the inexpensive DL 103, the Benz H is much more neutral, delivering a sensationnal acoutsic image, with enormous bass and very fine heights.
