Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $200.00 from American

Summary:
It is a decent receiver. With it's 80 RMS per channel. Unfortunatly not a lot of DVD Players/Changers have 6 CH Output. Plus not a lot of DVD's are encoded with this feature either. But I'm not downing this receiver at all.

Strengths:
Phono output amplification

Weaknesses:
Not a lot of In/Outputs. Faulty speakers terminals.

Pioneer Kenwood Nakamichi Yamaha

Review 3 of 6

Summary:
I just bought this receiver for my computer because I moved it away from my home theater and wanted good sound but didn't want to get the ugly and cheap computer style speakers that have horrible sound and looks. So I found a cheap receiver ($129) and had good options. I also bought a pair of Polk RT15i's to go with it (cherry finish to match my cherry finish desk). Hooked it all up and was pretty satisfied with the sound from it. The setup total cost was $350 after tax. A little more than a good computer speaker setup, but the sound and upgrade capability is worth the price.
For the cheap price and the 5.1 channel inputs, it's worth it. But the remote buttons are a little bunched up. And from the remote, the volume goes up and down a little slow. But these are very minor inconveniences.

Strengths:
Great price. Decent features.

Weaknesses:
Remote buttons compacted together.

Similar Products Used:
Sony, JVC, Yamaha, Denon, Etc.

Review 4 of 6

Summary:
i haven't had this unit all that long and i don't really have much of a frame of referance since this is my first home theater set up. i'm using it with a toshiba DD dvd player and infinity speakers. i originally got it as a HT package but have since replaced the kenwood speakers with the infinity's and a KLH 120 watt sub.
all i can say is it kick's ass.
it can play my system at levels my neighbors don't appreciate and do it without any distortion or laboring that i can hear and i'm pretty discerning.
you hear a lot of condescention about entry level recievers and maybe it won't last all that long (maybe) but it got me into home theater. so far i don't have any complaints other than the cheap speaker cable connects in the back. when i have more money i'll get more, bigger and better. but your not going to get hurt buying this reciever.

Strengths:
Price,Features, Power

Weaknesses:
it is what it is I.E. entry level, cheap speaker wire connectors

Similar Products Used:
none

Review 5 of 6

Summary:
I got this reciever, a Kenwood CD and tape player, JBL HLS 810 speakers, and Kenwood center and rear speakers for $600.
The system sounds great. The amp is awsome while watching MTV, a football game, TV shows, DVD's, tapes, and not to meantion CD's and tapes. It is very loud and cool. Buy it now...

Strengths:
very loud and packs a lot of punch. 450 watts. Enough said.

Weaknesses:
rear speaker a little too weak.
