Holy....full sound!! My Step-Dad Ron had it in the garage for 30 years. I had no idea what it was--maybe hoping for some vintage tubes. Just hooked it up to a pair of larger Kenwood "boom box" speakers and I am blown away. Pots were a little dirty; just spent 5 minutes working them in. Deep tight bass and warm highs and LOUD. I guess in 1966 60 watts meant SIXTY WATTS!!! Oh, and quality heavy construction. Thanks Ron!!

Strength:

Durability and high quality construction.

Weakness:

These units are 35 tears old now so shop carefully and be choosy...

The TK88U is a great Kenwood stereo receiver from the past, a la Vietnam era. This unit can still perform well for the modern listener. It has a quality FM tuner and also has a great AM section for nighttime talkradio listeners like me. Abundant unmbers were sold so hold out for a clean, original unit. It''s heavy, has a great dial appearance and a woodgrained, steel case that could be in use nowadays instead of basic black. special features include pre-outs, and a channel reverse control when you need to swap left and right signals, instead of wires. This review was made in honor of my father, who purchased a TK88U new in Vietnam.

this little receiver impressed me so much I had to post this in honer of the fine craftsmenship that went into this classic.although it is rated at only 60 watts into a 4ohm load it has a fabulous tuner and ample power to bring pleasing sound to a moderate size listening are.this is the first of my three vintage kenwood receivers.I highly recomend if you have a chance pick one up.....Robert Gray
