Summary:
Love this receiver. I have mismatched speakers and this unit has a equalizer that measures (with included mic) size, freq. response, sensitivity, and distance from listening areas, then adjusts parameters to match speakers for optimal performance. This replaced an old 5.1 Yamaha AV receiver and wow, what a difference! I love the hdmi passthroughs. Although, this one only has two (newer model has three or more). It states that only video is passed through hdmi's, however, this is not a problem for me. Why would you want to use your tv audio speakers anyway? I also like that you have the option to make your system a 7.1 surround (2 fronts, 2 surrounds, 2 rears, 1 center plus a subwoofer) or a 5.1 surround with the option of running 2 speakers in a different room. The receiver allows you to listen to two different sources in the two rooms. You can find this model now in the low $200's if you shop around which I feel is a great deal. Denon makes high quality products.
