Well I've been looking around for a quality CD player and found this in an antique mall for 175.00 with a denon cd player that sounds great. I love this machine, it has it all with a little extra. but it don't come close to my Marantz 2220B. the only problem with it is the FM antenna input only has 75ohm there is no 300ohm so i had to buy a matching transformer and then the plug for 75ohm is kinda different from anything i've seen before.

Strength:

Very good tuner. Good power. Warmth with clarity. Pre in main out for proper hook up of sub-woofer.

Weakness:

It really does what it is designed to do very well.

It really doesn't touch my nearly 20 year old Tandberg but the 2080 sold for nearly triple ($1,400)1980 dollars. The Denon however is quite capable by todays affordable standards. The tuner is well above average as even the AM section sounds full and rich. Most car radios have better tuners than home hi-fi receivers these days so it was nice to find this Gem. I use it for my bedroom system and talk at night comes across very warmly, not high pitched or pinched in tone. Good power for music during the day. It also has the ability to produce subtle tones at lower levels in the evening when the mood is important as well. All in all a great value. Wish Tandberg was still around though.

Has all the toys plus many extras with real clean sound the lights up any home!

I find myself lost for words because this Receiver is loaded with so many goodies who knows where to begin. This is one of the finest Receiver money can buy and they didn't leave anything out and the quality is just first class all the way. When you own one you will understand it is just plain awesome and built to last with breath taking sound with power to spare. Make me wonder if the other Receiver were really receivers at all?

Built like a brick house and has extras to spare and a sound that takes you to heaven.

We have owned allot of Stereo Receivers but after owning this Denon Receiver I ask myself did we really own a true stereo receiver until now! It is loaded with to many extras to tell in the review but the sound quality of this receiver is so awesome I could sit and listen forever. Many a time I almost believe I can just reach out and touch the people in the group or band playing. Until you have owned one of these honey's you haven't owned a true stereo receiver, it that great!

Built to last and very easy to use and sounds just awesome!

To cut right to the chase these receivers are just plain state of the art. They loaded with all the toys and if set up right with a Equalizer and DB meter you will believe everything you hear is live or like you can touch them. If you are a music lover as I am you will think you died and went to heaven. Nobody can go wrong with this Receiver!

Sound quality, build quality, and ease of use

Weakness:

antiquated remote

I was in the market to upgrade my sound system. I was using my Home theater system, with it's Yamaha RX-V 595a for stereo, and was rather disappointed with the results. I had thought of going with separates, but realized that that could be a pricy endeavor that would sacrifice a great deal of features. So, I settled on a receiver, high-end stereo. I looked at quite a few, but soon realized that the field was mostly occupied by low-end alternatives.

After some looking around I found the Rotel and Denon to be the chief contenders (The Nak Re-1 would have been considered if I could have found one to listen to). After looking and listening to the Denen and Rotel at some length I decided to go with the Denon and I have not been disappointed. the Rotel was my original favourite due to attention to aesthetic detail. However, after demo-ing the Denon for some time I concluded that the Rotel and Denon have comparable sound quality (both retail for about 700 US$) The soundstage is truly impressive, with precise imaging and great dynamics. The difference between these and my old Yamaha was absolutely astounding.

The Denon, however, offered some real benefits over the Rotel, such as multi-room, multi-source, with two separate remotes included. It has RDS tuning, which I enjoy, though many are indifferent to it. The denon is designed to provide pure, uncoloured sound and it does. I strongly recommend both Rotel and Denon, but I prefer the great features of the Denon, although it does lack the aestetics of the Rotel.

They built this receiver to last and it has every toy plus some to spare and with two remotes.

I was lucky to have used one of my friends for a few weeks while they were away visiting family. After useing their Denon receiver I had to have one after listing to theirs I hated the system I had at home. I don't know how I ever missed knowing about this receiver because as most of you have stated in your reviews it is breath taking sound and built like a battle ship. This has to be the most awesome Stereo receiver we have ever heard in our lives, if your thinking about buying one stop thinking and do it you willn't be sorry.
