Review 1 of 1

Price Paid:  $599.00 from Transcendent Sound

Summary:
This was a very well designed electronic kit, easy to assemble with quality parts and worked perfectly the first time. The sound is excellent. Highly recommended.

Strengths:
Parts quality was very good, instruction manual clearly written with excellent color pictures which help in assembly. Build time triple checked all connections). Sound quality, using the Transcendent in front of a Dynaco SCA-35 and Infinity Primus 360 speakers (95 db efficiency) is excellent. A big improvement over the SCA-35 phono stage. Much better and tighter base, cleaner treble, and a big, open, expansive sound stage. Electronically, the circuitry is fairly unique and rather elegant. An very good power supply design results in no audible background noise, even with the volume at highest setting, and with fairly sensitive speakers.

Weaknesses:
Cosmetics are simple and attractive, but not fancy. Some sharp edges on cover (file before handling).

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
