To me, the defining sonic trait of the Lector Zoe is its sparkling highs. The crash of cymbals is bold, even real. I find this preamplifier neutral overall, with the exception of a hint of warmth and forwardness in the mid-range, which gives the music wonderful presence. The Lector Zoe's sound is as solid and unwavering as its elegantly built chassis. Everything is always control d, from the palpable highs and mids to the tight bass extension. The sound-stage is big and bold, putting the musician right in the listeners room. I would highly recommend this preamp.

I have Been an Audiophile for some 30 years now and I am always trying to find a gem in the rough
well this Lector preamp is outstanding .If you read the 2005 Absolute sound review you know it was well received ,there was a few limitations on that early model ,But not no more since then they have improved 4 seperate sections such as the power supply has been beefed up, the resistors are now 1% tolerence, their is more capacitance and the capacitors are special made poly caps I believe from Denmark. I also own their super cdp mk -7 cd player.Lector is not good at advertising or bragging about upgrades when their is somethig to be done they just do it . My brother has the original he still has his and put side by side mine was an easy 10-15% better. He sent his back and got his upgraded. The soundstage is now solid as a rock even under demanding conditions, also the bass is very tight and fast inner detail is far better than the modwright I had as well as macro detail, and instruments such as a drumhead or cymbal sound real and for $2500 nothing is even in the ballpark you will have to spend at least another $2k to be in the same company their are a couple reviews in the process online by spring they should be out 2010, also you have 4 different vacuum tube options you can choose from and their are several patents on their 0 ohm power supply technologies.
I do recommend some good quality NOS tube ,the special 6h30 super tube in the d grade transforms this pre as well as a great power cord .The MAC burly is a giant killer PC as well as their other cables .I am allways looking for the best buy for my moneys .p.s all the bs that Lector has no repair service centers in bunk their are over 10 in the U.S .

the positives: Straight forward sound stage. very dynamic and ultra smooth. Rogue or Cary doesn't come close at 2000.00. very impressed. have been in the audio realm for over 30 years. i'm not really a tubee.. wanted a BAT but to expensive. The ZOE came highly reccommended and loved the reviews.. it is worth it.

the negatives are !) gets warm - so have proper ventalation. and crapy remote control.
