Review 1 of 2

Summary:
This is a 9 year old unit and it still sounds like the best available today. I tried an ARC LS-3 in my system and it was way on the light side of neutral. I use the Cal Audio Delta/Sigma front end and an Electrocompaniet power amp into Monitor Audio speakers.

Strengths:
Musical sound, warmth, build quality

Weaknesses:
None

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
I've owned the EC 1 for over eight years and having listened to any number of other pre-amps, have yet to hear its better. Dynamics, rhythm and separation of low level detail are outstanding. A better power cord makes a BIG difference. The phono section is VERY particular about having a good ground-not because of hum but for something I'm not electrician enough to identify. The unit will also reward use of a good power conditioner.

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
