Review NaN of , from Sherman

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
An excellent entry-level preamp for high end audio enthusiasts. I believe the entire Sonographe line is now out of production, along with the Premier line of tube amps. These may be available at closeout prices. There was one store that had a special run of Sonographe SA250 power amps built for them for sale on eBay at a reduced price. It is basically an economized version of the C-J MF-2250 amp. It would team up well with this preamp. The SC26 could be viewed as an economized version of the C-J PFR, which was outstanding in it's day. C-J solid state products were consistently underrated by most audiophiles. They never became as popular as they should have. Those who own them, or any CJD product, know what wonderful values they are. The SC26 was the cheapest entry into remote controlled C-J preamps. While not as refined as the PV-14L or PFR preamps, it costs about half of those two preamps and would make an excellent choice for somebody wanting something much nicer than imported mass-market solid state but without paying for standard or Premier C-J prices. People without highly developed listening tastes would hardly know the difference. Sonographe products seem to have high reliability, as I have seen lots of them in good condition for sale on eBay. CJD will repair any product they have ever built as long as they can source suitable parts. You can source these on eBay, Audiogon, or search the internet. I found all my CJD products at great prices on the internet through CJD dealers.

The most amazing thing about CJD products is the non-fatigueing nature of the sound. The sound is very smooth yet alive and involving.

Strengths:
Excellent value. CJD is a class act in high end audio. I have seen used Sonographe products sell at prices that rank among the lowest in high end audio for the sound quality they deliver. They are very musical and easy to listen to for hours on end.

Weaknesses:
Now out of production. However, as long as CJD is in business and can source the parts, they will offer service on any component they have ever built.
