Price Paid:  $1500.00 from Audio Exchange New Y

Summary:
This is an extra-ordinary amplifier. I use it to drive ESL-63''s. It has outstanding depth and imaging. It is transparent and has a great deal of detail and spacial information. I run it with Philips EL-34''s that I think are a great match for the amp. Philips tubes are no where to be found these days however. I bought a batch in 1986 when I bought the amp. If I found this amp in the used market I would buy another. CJ as you know will repair and suport the product. Built like a tank. In use for 15 plus years !!!

Strengths:
Imaging, tranparency, detail and spacial information. Sweet highs with the right EL-34''s

Weaknesses:
Could have a little more in the deep bass, but probably tube dependant

Similar Products Used:
Aleph 3, Mac MC-30''s, Berning EA-230, Marantz Model 8, Audiolab 8000, Dyna Mark 3''s, Goetz Muriel,Adcom 535 Mk II

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
