Summary:
This has got to be the best preamp i've heard and before i went for it i listen a few, very big soundstage, i could go on and on about it but in a few words they make you're system disapear and just lay back and listen to music wich is what its all about. My system: Chord CPA4000E Chord SPM 5000 JMlab Electra 936 Nuvista CDplayer All Wire world's gold eclipse cables thinking of upgrading to B&W 802 and with Mark Levinson n39 cd or Audio Research CD3, what do you think?

Summary:
Auditioned both the CPA 3200 and 4000 (with SPM 1200E power amp and B&W N802 speakers/nordost cables). I was surprised just how much better the 4000 was over the 3200. The 3200 was very very good but the 4000 was absolutely breath-taking and brought everything to life. A huge gulf between the two and was instantly noticeable. Like having the artist in the room; the detail, presence and sound stage was stunning. My mind was made up very quickly despite the cost of £7100. I cannot imagine there is ANY better pre amp on the market today than the CPA 4000.

Summary:
this clown from "Munden" has given the same review for the Chord Amp. I have the CPA 4000 hooked to a Chord SPM 4000 and brother they sound exellent, depth, range, sound stageing. the speakers I am using are the B&W Naut. 802. this pre. is beautiful to look at and to do the best job available (6 leg integra both models)

Summary:
i am very sure this guy named osram from hann, munden do not own this product because this preamp is among the best money can buy! i recently upgraded from the cpa 3200e which was already superior to preamps that i have tried from sonic frontiers, mark levinson, jeff rowland and even spectral. the chord simply sounded more transparent, neutral, detailed and more 'live'. the cpa 4000e is simply more open and transparent than the cpa 3200e. somehow, chord products always sound as if the equipment isn't there! i currently have a spm 1200e power amp partnered with cabasse adriatis speakers and now i know why chord are used by the leading studios in the world.

the unit will go into protection mode when changing interconnects with the unit left powered on.
