Bottom Line:   
I got the Nova Phenomena to use with my new Nottingham 294 'table and arm, Dynavector 17 D3 cartridge and C-J CT 5 pre amp. I thought the battery power would isolate me from line fluctuations and since the 17 D3 was a low out put coil it would need all the isolation it could get. It also needed 60 db gain and so I had to be careful to get something that was DEAD QUIET. I got it. This Nova is, in fact , phenomenal. Absolutely quiet and neutral. With many, many settings for gain and load-you'll never need more. Really, I cant tell the difference between battery operation and strait through. Michael Yee is accessible and quick to respond. The auto light went out and he sent me a new unit post haste. Dont pay more for a phono preamp. The musical dynamics are there along with the lowest level sounds. Clear, clean, neutral. Just what you wanted.
