I like the Yamahas from the 1970's and also tried the A-500, which I found nice but a little 'grainy' in the long run. Since this amp won the Hi-Fi world budget award in 2010 and I found it second hand I decided to give it a try. No regrets. I like the retro design and the list of features. Portless loudness is nice at low volumes, though I prefer using line direct most of the time. Compared to a similar priced Cambridge Azur I had it is more powerful than the rated 2x85W and offers more in the bass department. A very good alrounder which offers good detail without being overanalytical. Price paid on ebay ca 130 euro including transport.
